July 9th Meeting Notes
By Loretta - It was standing room only in the County Commissioner’s room today. It was gratifying to hear that all the Commissioners were supportive of keeping the crusher out of our community. That said, other than lending their support and attending the TCEQ meeting, they stated that they do not have the authority to prevent the TCEQ from issuing a permit for the crusher. It is up to all of us as a Community, to make the case for the denial of the permit at the TCEQ meeting August 1. During the meeting, four residents voiced their concerns about the potential health hazards caused by airborne silica dust, the impact on our local beekeeper’s livelihood, and the potential decrease in property values. A representative from Starr Water highlighted that NTNSM has not applied for a sewage permit, meaning Starr cannot provide water until they do. One of the Commissioners also mentioned that they would investigate whether the company is up to date on their taxes, as there are concerns that associated individuals when working out of Frisco may owe 3 million in unpaid taxes.
A great big shout-out to all attended, your support is appreciated!
