LOCATION CHANGED!

Proposed concrete crusher relocated away from Denison neighborhood, KTEN News

The Denison Crusher will no longer be located in the residential neighborhood on Fannin Avenue.

Its location has been officially moved to SH-503 Spur (also known locally as Eisenhower Parkway) in Denison, where there is better road infrastructure to handle the semi-truck traffic in and out of the site. More importantly, this new site is farther away from nearby homes. On their website, North Texas Natural Select Materials, LLC lists their Denison location as 3530 SH-503 Spur Frontage Rd, Denison TX 75020.

Subject: This Could Happen Anywhere Again
by John Huckle

Two years ago, Grayson County residents learned firsthand what happens when government stops serving the people it’s supposed to protect.

The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) approved permits for a concrete crusher in our community—twice at the original site and once at a new location extending toward FM 503. Without intervention, the crusher would have now been operating for more than a year. And at their new site? Who knows what TCEQ would have approved next? A batch plant??

At an August 2024 public meeting, TCEQ acknowledged to State Representative Shelley Luther that it does not have the authority to shut down a concrete crusher—even if the facility violates its permit. If no motion to overturn had been filed, the permit would have been permanent. That is not a government working for the people.

John Huckle didn’t accept that. Alongside neighbors, he fought and secured a settlement that keeps all concrete-related operations north of an agreed boundary, protecting the greatest number of families now and in the future. The company also agreed to keep heavy equipment and semi-trucks off neighborhood roads.

This wasn’t the win we wanted—it was a warning, and it exposed just how broken the system is.

That’s why John Huckle is running for County Commissioner, Precinct 2. He never planned to run for office, but after seeing how the system fails ordinary people when it matters most, he couldn’t ignore the call to act.

Huckle has already proven he will stand up for our community. Government only works well when good people are willing to serve.

Mail-in voting begins in January, and this election matters. John Huckle can’t win it alone. If you’re willing to help, your support makes a real difference. Please put up a yard sign, knock on doors, host a small gathering, or simply spread the word.

Help us make sure what happened to our neighborhood never happens again anywhere in Grayson County.
